EVE PEARL: The Eye Palette – Swatches & Reviews

A few months ago as you all know I competed in the IMATS Vancouver beauty/fantasy makeup competition,  I didn’t win but all the contestants got a goodie bag of products.

I promptly gave the jar of glitter included away to a friend because glitter isn’t my thing, but I was quite excited about receiving the 3 eve pearl eye shadow palettes because I had prior to that never had a chance to try them

I am sure you have heard of eve pearl she is a quite famous makeup artist, who is responsible for the salmon concealer trio  which is the best thing for dark circles, especially if you aren’t familiar with color theory.  It takes the guess-work out of color correcting the green, blue, purple colors in your dark circles.

In my gift bag I received 3 of the eye palettes, I believe there are 8. I was given Sapphire eyes which is blue/pinky/peach, Velvet Eyes which has violet/purple, and Emerald Eyes which has green/bronze.

I will review each palette separately, however except for 1 or 2 colors I found most of the shadows a little powdery, and most of them sheered out way too easily.

Emerald Eyes

This palette has the most workable shadows in it, the best out of them is the bronze in the top row center, the dark green in the bottom row center, and the dark blue on the bottom row right.  None of these shadows are matte, which might be why they are more workable than some of the other palettes,  the purpley bronze color in the top right is very sheer and I have a hard time picking it up with brush or finger.

The highlight color is a little lighter than it appears in the pictures and is very warm and creamy.  I don’t like the colors that much in this palette and haven’t reached for it much over the past few months, even though I have warm golden brown eyes and the bronzes and greens definitely flatter them.  If you have brown eyes try this palette you might like it, though for $40.00 I think you could most likely find a better bang for your buck. Though if you are a MAC makeup fan, these seem to sit right around that mark and you might like them.

This Palette has the least workable shades, which I find hugely disappointing because I am partial to purples.  These colors as a group are my favorite. The most workable shadow is the top middle again which is a gorgeous silvery lavender.  The rest aren’t super pigmented or are powdery and sheer out quite easily. Despite this I still use these colors more than the others because I LOVE THEM! They work reasonably well with a primer it just takes awhile more to blend them out nice and I have to be careful so they don’t sheer out, and I really have to pat the product on.  But, we will go great lengths for colors we love.

Once again these shadows are comparable to MAC but aren’t comparable to say Yaby (which are exceptional)

I would never put these in my pro kit.

You will notice in the above pictures I am missing one of the shadows in this palette, unfortunately my careless clumsy self dropped it off my bathroom counter awhile ago and one of the blues broke. 😦 Such a shame as it was absolutely lovely. That is another thing you must watch about these shadows, they are quite soft so they break easily.

This palette is the middle runner of the bunch, but also has the best and most workable single shadow in it.  The middle sparkly blue on the bottom is GORGEOUS! It is workable and pigmented and sparkly and just great, great for a nice smokey eye. The highlight color is also nice, good for a natural eye.  The rest of the shadows run the same way as all the other palettes easy to sheer out, or not that pigmented, or hard to pick up.

Mac quality but not really pro quality.

All of these palettes have mirrors in them and are great for the consumer! They are great for throwing in your purse and make touch ups easy.  I recommend using a primer with them for all day wear. If you have a bit of patience the colors in these are definitely an asset to a personal kit.

You can purchase these off www.evepearl.com or my favorite online store www.camerareadycosmetics.com (which really has everything SEE)

I placed my birthday order with camera ready cosmetics yesterday, so it should be here by my birthday, maybe even next friday if I’m lucky.  Look forward to a large Haul post!

Toodles ❤
